Face to face with customers our body language, tone of voice and expression create genuine rapport and build the familiarity of 'one of our team' that is the arteria personality. Strangely no amount of formatting in 'friendly fonts', could stop me feeling that this had been lost in translation when flowing my chit chat into text on screen.

It makes sense that, in the pursuit of more cost effective/time efficiency, in person catch-ups are replaced by 'textural exchanges' in email, websites and bulk messaging on social networks such as facebook.

So is it possible to translate the idiosyncracies in our voice that makes our communication with customers personal, unique and ultimately strengthen our brand loyalty?

Thankfully the answer is yes - it's a matter of tone. In a nutshell, it is the "Tone of voice" which, used well, will strengthen brand loyalty and set businesses apart from competitors.

Check out the next issue of Arteria's newsletter for some hints which helped keep me on track.
